Cavs give up 3 mid-to-late 1st round picks. Cavs don’t need 3 hit-or-miss late round 1st round picks. The future is now in Cleveland. They have a core now of 4 All*Star caliber players, all locked down under contract for the next 4 years, all either in their prime or heading into their prime. Losing Lauri is a bit of a hit but Mitchell for Lauri is a no-brainer. Lauri ran hot and cold as well and simply just a good rotation player. Sexton is coming off a year long injury and the Jazz just overpaid for a player who can’t run an offense and doesn’t make the other players around him better IMO. Cavs we’re looking to part with him anyways. Obaji is unproved rookie who will probably be a solid NBA player but will take a couple years to develop. So if you take a look at this trade at face value the Cavs just landed an All*Star player that’s a perfect fit for their roster for assets that don’t mean much for a team that is ready to win now. A+ trade for the Cavs!
