Your body has an living, breathing alarm system (the nervous system) that tells us what happens to us. This is important to tell us when we’re injured (i.e. step on a rusted nail), but sometimes this alarm system can become hypersensitive, leading to persistent pain.

Adriaan Louw, PT, PhD, CSMT, explains to us why this can happen and how understanding pain can help to reduce the sensitivity of this alarm system.
