August 8th, 2019 — For the evening of my 123rd outing of this year, I decided to fish the Monongahela for some Flathead Catfish! This is the last installment of my Pittsburgh series! 🙂

Gear used in this video:

Rod: Daiwa Spinmatic Rod, UL, 5’6″, 2 pcs (*), & Tsunami Sapphire XT Rod, MH, 9’0″, 2 pcs.
Reel: Shimano Sedona FI 500 model (*), & PENN Slammer III, 4500 model (*).
Line: Berkley Vanish 100% Fluorocarbon, 4lbs test line (*), & Power Pro Spectra, Vermillion Red, 30lbs test line
Bait/lures: Slip-Sinker setup with a 2 oz. bank sinker (*), a Riptail Rolling Barrel Swivel (*), and a size 7/0 Gamakatsu Octopus hook (*). For bait, pieces of Yellow Perch, Channel Catfish, and a live Rock Bass. For the Rock Bass, a 2″ Storm Wildeye Swim Shad, Chartreuse color (*).
Tools: Rapala Floating Lip Gripper (*), Berkley Spiral Rod Holders (*), & Plusinno Fishing net (

So happy to get this Pittsburgh series hope to see another one next year. Fingers crossed. Personally I'd love to see more trips in PA and the Midwest than Florida. That's just my bias not much of a warm weather guy.

Hey man Im stealing your suspended jigging technique with crappie magnet and im going to target wiper with it. The wiper in my area are being finicky right now and will only hit crappie jigs i caught a 5# 4 oz large mouth 2 days ago on a maribou jig in a spot where rooster tail is generally the juice for all species only the maribou works for me now maybe the crappie magnet will also be the juice
