In the second half of the XV century, Japan entered a long period of crisis called the Sengoku Jidai or the Age of the Warring States. Ashikaga Shogunate lost its authority and the clan leaders – daimyos divided the islands into 400 small feudal holdings. Three military leaders – Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu started their struggle to consolidate Japan in the XVI century and it all culminated at the battle of Sekigahara fought in 1600 between alliances led by Tokugawa Ieyasu and Ishida Mitsunari. The battle decided the next 250 years of the Japanese history

Sitiusz says:

Thx for the great video. However, there are some points may lead confusion: Nobunaga never conquered the whole Honshu or made the rest as client states, his generals were in their own battlefield under Nobunaga's command, so that Mitsuhide could find the gap and destroyed Nobunaga, but the map in the video is painted all purple; Hideyoshi was a general of Nobunaga, not his ally as mentioned in the video, this is a mistake which may confuse people. Please check them.

BuyouShounen says:

This video was very good, but I noticed a lot of the areas shown as being held by certain rulers, particularly Nobunaga and Ieyasu were not accurate. Nobunaga didn't capture Echizen until the fall of the Asakura clan in 1573, for example, and Suruga province was not captured by Nobunaga and his allies until the fall of the Takeda in 1582. Tokugawa Ieyasu's domain was also moved to to the former lands of the Hojo clan after their defeat by Hideyoshi, and the Uesugi were moved out of their previous home province of Echigo into the Tohoku region around the same time.
