This documentary film is about the flu pandemic of 1918 in the United States including interviews with survivors sharing their emotional stories about family and friend impacted. The 1918 flu pandemic occurred long before modem flu shots and vaccines, an unusual influenza infection, the first of the two involving H1 N1 influenza virus. The virus infected about 500 million across the world, including remote Pacific islands and the Arctic. It eventually resulted in the loss of 50 to 100 million (3% to 5% of the world’s population), making it one of the worst natural disasters in human history. Once symptoms appeared, the virus rapidly spread, greatly limited life expectancy in the early 20th century,

My grandmother was 18 years old, when this Flu Pandemic broke out. She told me that not very many chinese people died of it, because they used chinese herbs.

My grandparents came over from Denmark with my baby aunt and 3 yr old father. They lived in Washington dc. My grandfather was a machinist and had to work. Every night he came home he never knew if the family would be dead or alive. They all lived. The majority of the neighbors all died.
