I'm sure in the 1940s/1950s there were academics giving good advice to Venezuela; in 1950 Venezuelan GDP/capita was equal to that of Australia & Canada; now Venezuelan 5-year compound annual growth is just 1.1% and inflation (CPI) is 62.2%
