About Fallout 4 Automatron DLC:
The mysterious Mechanist has unleashed a horde of evil robots into the Commonwealth, including the devious Robobrain. Hunt them down and harvest their parts to build and mod your own custom robot companions. Choose from hundreds of mods; mixing limbs, armor, abilities, and weapons like the all-new lightning chain gun. Even customize their paint schemes and choose their voices! For characters level 15 or higher.

What I love is getting into the X-01 armour with military paint etc then taking psychobuff to increase carry weight to just over 500. Get your robot with as much carry weight as possible and all of a sudden you can be bringing 700-800 worth of junk etc back to base

Asking as someone that hasn't even played Fallout 4 yet, when they talk about The Mechanist, is it the same Mechanist from Fallout 3? The one in the "super hero" side quest?

If u want 100% of the mods/upgrades for the robot workbench, u need to add the following perks: blacksmith and robotics expert. The advantage with robotics expert is that it allows u to hack a robot during combat and issue various commands. Ex: level 1 allows u to either shut down the robot or have it self-destruct in an epic explosion

Genny, The Robots are probably the BEST companions you can get. They don't judge you (like Dogmeat) but they are SUPER heavy hitters and absolutely kick butt against enemies. A word of caution though (in case you haven't actually finished the DLC yet) WEAR POWER ARMOR when you go to face The Mechanist. Trust me, you will want it. I completed this at over level 90 and nearly got obliterated several times.
EDIT: Also, Vats is almost entirely dependent on your Agility stat. Have crappy Agility and you will have crappy VATS results.
