Video credits to WCS Sophomore Charles Gonzalez – Honors Marine Biology students at Westminster Christian School were given the opportunity to work alongside UM professors and undergraduate students to learn first-hand how they gather and track sharks here in South Florida. Students first released bait attached with a fifty-pound weight, later reeling in two nurse sharks, two tiger sharks, and a black tip shark. They assisted by measuring, attaching a tracker, and gathering DNA samples. This was an incredible experience that allowed for students to gain a new perspective on scientific research and development– truly a once in-a-lifetime opportunity.
