Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in partnership with Emergency Preparedness, Music Therapy and the Communications Department have created a musical message to encourage staff to have their seasonal flu vaccination. This is a light hearted song with a serious message as staff from across the hospital express the importance of the seasonal flu vaccination, hand hygiene and wearing of aprons, gloves and masks.

Hubie59 says:

Patient exposures to flu last year were higher with vaccinated staff versus mask-wearing, non-vaccinated staff. Take home message–patients at greater risk for flu exposure when encountering a vaccinated employee.

Hubie59 says:

Will C&M be informing their staff that they lose reimbursement if they fail to get >/=90% of their staff vaccinated (flu)?

Hubie59 says:

You'll not achieve more than 50% vax rate without mandating HCWs get the flu vax or wear a mask. Before you force your HCWs to make the choice consider this. Post the results of one or more US hospital(s) that performed a retrospective, cohort study looking at relative risk of HCWs–in hospitals mandating get flu vax or wear the mask, that achieved >90% compliance with vaccination rate–calling in sick due to illness (or specifically, influenza) in the masked/non-vaccinated cohort v. non-masked/vaccinated cohort during last year's flu season (or the year before). This helps cuts through all the rhetoric about the flu shot's efficacy, retrospectively only, and your credibility.

Stephen Sandford says:

A really true hospital collaboration across the whole organisation, well done everyone, Chelsea and Westminster leading the way on arts in health again!

Paul Misell says:

I was offered a flu jab today and wasn't sure if I should get one – now I've seen this I'm almost certainly going to refuse.

Miriam Busani says:

It was fun making it. The message is very important and we are lucky to be able to get this free at work, at a time to suit us. The last time I had flu was 1994 and they weren't doing it then.

Our staff have given up their own time to share an important message about flu—have a look and share!

Love the video! Really great work. My comment below was sent to the G+ social media forum (where it makes more sense). Looks like I've been out socialed by Google!
