Joanne is a Medical Scientist working for the HSE. After achieving 525 points in her leaving certificate she started studying in GMIT in 2004. Joanne specialised in Haematology, Blood Transfusion Science
and Histopathology. Joanne choose to undertake her research project in the area of Coeliac Disease at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. This was an incredible experience where she had the opportunity to work as a Research Assistant with world-renowned leaders in the Medical field. In 2009, Joanne undertook a Masters in Biomedical Science with the University of Ulster in Coleraine through distance learning at the same time she started working in the Biochemistry Laboratory at Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway.
